Required Account Information for Direct Deposit

The direct deposit form needs your financial institution and account numbers. See these below:

Important Information re: Valid Account Number for Direct Deposits and Pre-authorized Payment Forms:

The format for bank account numbers at Valley Credit Union is a 5 digit member number PLUS a 2 digit account number PLUS a final digit. For example 12345-116. To log into your bank account, you use your member number whisch is s a 5 digit member number PLUS a 00 PLUS a final digit, which in this example would be 12345-006. The member number provides access to all of your accounts (chequing, savings, etc.).

PLEASE NOTE that the information required for Direct Deposits and pre-authorized payments is the individual account number. You may have a savings account and a chequing account and you will need to specify which account you wish to use. Therefore when entering your bank account number be sure to specify the proper number, representing the account number.

Employer Payments with Direct Deposit

Ask your employer if direct deposit is available to you and what information is required to have your pay cheque automatically deposited into your credit union account.

Government Payments with Direct Deposit

Direct deposit is a fast, convenient, and secure way to get your CRA payments directly into your account. Sign up now to receive your Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) payments via direct deposit, to receive your benefit payments sooner. The Federal Government intends to convert all of payments for the following services to direct deposit:
  • Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB)
  • Employment Insurance (EI)
  • Old Age Security (OAS)
  • Canada Pension Plan (CPP)
  • Public Service Pension
  • Veterans Affairs Pension
  • War Veterans Allowance
  • Canadian Forces Pension
  • Goods and Services Tax(GST)/Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) Credit
  • Income Tax Refund
  • Canada Child Benefit
  • Universal Child Care Benefit (UCCB)
  • Federal Departments Accounts Payable
  • Canada Workers Benefit

Already registered with the CRA to receive payments? If you are already registered for CRA Direct Deposit, you don’t need to register again.

Register Using Valley Credit Union Online Banking

You can now log in to online banking to enroll in the Canada Revenue Agency’s Direct Deposit via Financial Institutions service to receive direct deposits for payments, including the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB).

Steps to Sign Up Through Online Banking

  • Log in to online banking.
  • Sign up for the CRA Direct Deposit.
  • First navigate to the sidebar and click on Account Services, then click on Set up CRA Direct Deposit. Click Next to proceed.
  • Select your account. You will be asked to select the account where your like to have your payments deposited to.
  • Terms of Service. Once you have agreed to the Terms of Services, click Submit on the Authorization Page.
