Valley Regional Hospital Foundation congratulates Valley Credit Union, recipients of the 2020 Coady Award.  This award is presented in recognition of the exemplary contribution by Valley Credit Union to our community.

Valley Credit Union has been a valuable supporter, contributor, and partner of the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation sponsoring and volunteering for various programs and events, such as our Comfort Program, for many years. So far, the Comfort Program has supplied cots for loved ones supporting patients, supplies for hand knitted baby hats for newborns, and healthy snacks for patients and their support person. Valley Credit Union staff have volunteered every year for our Health in Harmony Radiothon, raising money for hospital equipment.

Kudos on your achievement!

I have been the president of the Credit Union Centre, Kingston for the past 15 years. As a long-time partner, our non-profit facility has benefited ten-fold from the support we have received from Valley Credit Union. After the sponsorship agreement giving the credit union the naming rights for our facility was in place, the support did not stop there. Valley has continued to step up over the years supporting projects within the facility, assisting fundraising functions with not only financial but volunteer support, ensuring success at every level. The support we received not only inspired me to work harder for the arena, it made me submit my name to become one of Valley Credit Union’s board members, a seat I continue to hold in now my third term.

Thanks to the wonderful staff and my fellow board members at Valley Credit Union, the Credit Union Centre is a successful community asset for not only winter sport, but seasonal activities all year long.

The impact that the VCU’s sponsorship of the Coldbrook and District Lions Club projects over the years can not be understated.  Not only did those sponsorship save the Valley Drive In from closure, and allowed a decade of youth workers to have an option for summer employment.  The survival of the drive in and subsequent VCU sponsorship of our play area equipment has also served the community by providing a fun, safe and affordable entertainment venue for their family.

These VCU sponsorships have allowed the Lions fund raising projects held at the drive in to donate tens of thousands of dollars back to our community year over year.
Thank you.

The Flower Cart Group's Building Opportunities Capital Campaign began in 2018 as one of the most ambitious fundraising efforts in the Annapolis Valley’s history. Very soon after we launched it became apparent how deeply our mandate resonated with the community, demonstrated by the outpouring of support from individuals and local businesses. Valley Credit Union was among those early enthusiastic supporters who shared our vision. Their gift came in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic when the future of the campaign was, like many things at the time, uncertain. Their contribution served to solidify the campaign’s success, reaching our goal ahead of schedule in mid-2021.

Because of Valley Credit Union’s support, our organization took a significant step toward a new accessible, respectful space that will facilitate growth and sustainability for The Flower Cart Group.

Mental health is a major issue in today’s society. Kingston Greenwood Mental Health Association is focusing on numerous efforts to improve this health picture. To eliminate the STIGMA, we need communities to work together to bring this issue the awareness and attention it requires. We are very grateful to have Valley Credit Union as a community partner supporting our efforts. The amazing work their whole team has done to fundraise and build awareness for our organization, and mental health in general, will help us offer individuals the services for the invaluable interventions they need for years to come.

The Valley Credit Union is helping immensely to ensure the road to mental wellness is paved with the ingredients and supports required.

The Credit Union Rec Complex is an indoor multi-sport and recreation facility in the Town of Kentville. Thanks to the multi-year sponsorship agreement with Valley Credit Union, multiple upgrades to our facility have been made over the past few years, allowing us to become more accessible to the community and offer a wider range of sports and recreational programming.

Valley Credit Union’s support enabled us to make necessary upgrades to our facility, build a stronger relationship with our community, and offer a welcoming environment to our users.
