Our Board of Directors plays an important role in shaping the future of Valley Credit Union. As member elected representatives, they ensure we remain focused on local needs, responsible growth, and long term sustainability. Their leadership helps us continue delivering personal, relationship based service in every community we serve.

 
Valley Credit Union is a democratic financial institution that operates with the best interests of our members, community and environment in mind. You could play an integral role in shaping the future direction of this progressive, dynamic, and caring organization.

To be eligible to run, you must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen, 19 years or older, and a member of Valley Credit Union
  • Meet specific requirements outlined in our by-laws

Some exclusions include:

  • Employees or relatives of employees
  • Undischarged bankrupts, auditors, or those not bondable
Any member who is 18 or older and in good standing with a minimum share balance of $5.00 is eligible to vote*. Remember, each member gets one vote per question. We’re committed to making this process as transparent and democratic as possible.





*Share balance of not less than $5.00, the first name on the account, or have full member status as of the date of the Annual General Meeting. The Credit Union Act does not allow members to vote more than once per question or to vote by proxy. If a corporation or association is a member, the Credit Union shall recognize a natural person authorized to represent the corporation or association by a resolution of the directors or governing body of the corporation or association. As referenced in the voting eligibility in the sections 71, 72, and 73 of the Credit Union Act available on the Nova Scotia Legislature website.

Andrea Martin - Chair

Andrea is very committed to Valley Credit Union and firmly believes in the system. Andrea has served as a director for 18 years and is currently Chair of the Board. She has led multiple Valley Credit Union committees, including Audit, and represented the organization at national and international credit union conferences. A CPA by profession, she brings strong financial expertise and governance experience. Andrea is deeply committed to the credit union system and remains actively involved in her community through volunteer work.

Reginald (Reg) Rose - Vice Chair

Reg brings extensive governance and business experience, having served nine years on the Shelburne CBDC Board and held roles with hospital, church, and exhibition boards. He also chaired an investment committee and has a strong understanding of board operations. With a 31 year career at IG Wealth Management, he built a successful, compliant practice. Reginald continues to support community organizations and values strong local engagement.

Richard (Rick) F. Graham

Rick brings more than 40 years of experience in the financial services industry, including 36 years with CIBC and 25 years in commercial and corporate banking. Prior to joining Valley Credit Union, he was also a member of the Newfoundland and Labrador Credit Union through a volunteer sport organization he managed.

He has extensive governance and volunteer experience through organizations including the Canadian Red Cross and Kentville Rotary Club. Richard has also served on several boards supporting sport, community development, and not for profit initiatives. He is committed to strong governance and community focused leadership.

Wayne Fowler

Wayne is actively involved in the community and brings strong volunteer and leadership experience to the Valley Credit Union Board of Directors. He serves as President of the Credit Union Centre, Vice President of the Western Valley Minor Hockey Association, and is a member of the Village of Kingston Planning and Advisory Committee.

Wayne also played a key role in Kingston’s successful Kraft Hockeyville campaign in 2014, which secured $100,000 in arena upgrades. He is committed to supporting strong communities through local involvement and leadership.

Sandra J Fournier

Sandra has over 30 years of experience as a credit union member and brings a background in nursing, social work, and governance. Her education and professional experience support thoughtful decision making and oversight. She is active in her community through Rotary and past municipal involvement. Sandra is committed to supporting strong governance and ensuring accessible, community focused financial services.

Jim values collaboration and enjoys working with teams and committees toward shared goals. Through his professional experience, he has supported individuals facing financial challenges and helped develop practical solutions that benefit both people and organizations.

He brings a thoughtful, people focused approach and is committed to supporting strong decision making and positive outcomes for members and communities.

Nancy Roscoe-Huntley

Nancy has been a long time credit union member with experience in both personal and business banking. During her 30 year career at Acadia University, she served on several university and union committees, including negotiating, education, and member support initiatives.

She remains active in her community through local health care and community development projects. As a local business owner, Nancy understands the importance of strong community based financial services and brings a collaborative, member focused approach to the Valley Credit Union Board of Directors.

Vernon Gaudet

Vernon recently retired from the provincial government, and he was active as local treasurer for over 12 years. He was a Treasurer for Local 4 NSGEU and served on the NSGEU Finance Committee for many years.

Currently, he is on the Lawrencetown Village council. He was president of Clare Soccer Nova Scotia and believe volunteers truly help a community thrive. He is currently working for a small business in Bridgetown, NS.

Robert Amos

Robert is a retired Air Force navigator with 22 years of military service and 25 years of experience with IMP Aerospace in program management and operations leadership. His work included major aerospace and manufacturing projects, along with quality oversight and cost management responsibilities.

He has been actively involved in community leadership for more than 35 years through the Melvern Square and Area Community Centre and has also volunteered extensively with his local parish. [Name] brings strong leadership, governance, and operational experience to the Valley Credit Union Board of Directors.

Christina Sappington

Christina is a dedicated community leader with strong involvement across the Annapolis Valley. She serves on multiple boards, including the Kings County Family Resource Centre and CORE Support Services, and is President of the Valley Women’s Business Network. A municipal councillor and active regional representative, she brings leadership and connection across sectors. Christina is passionate about strengthening communities through collaboration and engagement.

William (Bill) MacKeen

Bill is a retired health care executive with over 40 years of experience across hospital care, administration, and provincial health systems. Since moving to the Valley in 2004, he has remained active through part time work and local volunteering. His contributions include roles with community health boards, foundations, and local organizations. Bill values strong community connections and brings practical leadership experience to his work.
